Education & Learning Support Program Opens Enrollment for New Term
RTI has officially opened enrollment for the new term of its Education & Learning Support Program, welcoming refugee families across Nairobi to register their children for after-school tutoring, mentorship, and scholastic material support.
Volunteers staffed registration tables over the past two weeks, helping parents complete enrollment forms and answering questions about the program's schedule, safeguarding policies, and what materials each child would receive.
What the Program Offers
- After-school tutoring and homework support
- School mentorship sessions for children and teens
- Distribution of scholastic materials — books, pens, and uniforms
- Support for school enrollment and retention
- Child safeguarding awareness and referral support
Our Goal This Term
RTI aims to reach 120 refugee children this term, with a particular focus on supporting families who have struggled to keep children enrolled in school due to financial or documentation barriers.
"Education is one of the strongest protective factors for a refugee child," said one RTI volunteer coordinator. "When a child is in school, learning, and supported — that's when we start to see real, lasting change for a whole family."
